" Cherish the Moments "

Case File 153 at CSI: Color, Stories and Inspiration

Hi everyone and welcome to another case file at CSI. This one is a stunner and I had a fantastic time creating this very special layout. I think anytime that you get the opportunity to scrap important people in your family it just makes the layout that little more special.
In the photo from the left is my Mum, my Nanna and my Aunty Joan. My Mum would have been about 19 in this photo. My Nanna was a machinist in an English sewing factory making parachutes for WW2. The factory put on a family day for all its workers to Southport and my Mum and my Aunty went along. Mum tells me that this is the day that she taught my Aunty to smoke and drink. How times have changed.

CSI have got some wonderful sponsors for this months case files. CSI have changed their structure for prizes and now every layout that makes The Most Wanted List for the month will be given a number and go in a random draw for some very special prizes. To many new things go on over at CSI to list all at once so over the next few entries I will expand on them.

 Case File 153
The Scheme- pale coral/peach, orangey red, pale seafoam green, pale pale yellow and dusty brown- all used
The Evidence- I used border punch, lace, texture paste, circles, ribbon, sprinkle something
The Testimony- I have placed my journalling on the tags that are located to the left of the picture. They are the ones with black metal flowers on them. There are three in total and when you pull them out I have documented some personal memories of these very special women in my family. I hope you will understand why I don't want to share these memories.

Now for some closeups and details
Lots of flowers a bit of fussy cutting in the background.
Heaps of bling on the very
girly page.

Glitter on 2Crafty chippies and texture paste on the background.
Gelatos ad the colour and then some black stamping to finish it off.

Love the bow die that I got for Christmas and I've used it on this
layout  to create some pretty little bows.
Bits of lace and Flourish with Blings black rhinestones

I cut out a square in the middle of the background paper
and then used it as one of the layers.
I added a single row of  black Rhinestones
around the edge of the cut out.

some of the items used;
Papers- Prima Rondelle, Pavanne, Cabriole and Sovienne
Bo Bunny Somewhere in time
2Crafty chippies

" A Christmas to Remember "

Welcome everyone to a special Collaboration case file CC - 4 at
CSI; Color, Stories and Inspiration
and
Words and Paintery.
These two challenge sites have got together to create this amazing case file.
What a fantastic idea, make one project and participate in both challenges AND be eligible for even MORE prizes. Take a peek at some of the wonderful creations at both of these sites, amazing!! I must add its fantastic to see my work featured on another challenge site too with their Design Team members.

Now for my interpretation of the case file.
This is a picture of my daughter Kyra with Elsa and Anna from the film Frozen. This photo was taken this Christmas. I decided to construct a" photo booth" for Christmas photo's. My granddaughter wanted her Mum to have a photo taken with her favorite dolls. The case file is full of snowflakes and all things wintery and as we, in Australia don't have a cold Christmas or for that matter, I live in an area that never has snow so this was the closest I could get to a " frozen" theme.
I don't usually like doing blue colours but this case file is a beauty and I had a great time doing it.

The case file at CSI  and the challenge at Words and Paintery

Now for the case file requirements.
The Scheme; All 5 colours used: aqua blue, true blue, taupe, light gray and off white.

The Evidence ; I used stripes, snowflakes, silver metal, 3 of something, stars, glitter, texture paste, hearts,

The Testimony; I used the inspirational word " Celebrate & Overcome"
 On this layout I documented the testimony on the back of the layout and it reads;

Every year I try to do something a little different so its not the same  Christmas. It might be the way we wrap the pressies under the tree, I might change the way I cook the food or add another yummy item to the menu, I like to change something a little but remember it will always be special.

I always have trouble getting my family to have photo's taken so this year (2015) I decided I would overcome this problem by collecting bits and pieces of Christmas dressups, set up the camera on a tripod, create an area i the yard for a " photo booth " and let everyone have some fun. It didn't matter who was in the photo or how many photo's were taken all I wanted was some special memories of everyone as we celebrated Christmas and everything it means to us. I captured in excess of 175 photos of my family. This is just one of them.

NOW FOR THE CLOSEUPS......

Lots of glitter, pearls and all things shiny on this layout.
The little silver snowflakes came off a card  someone had sent me.
I like to recycle..
Clear Gesso on the background and some black stamping.
I used silks on the chippies
to give them more of a shimmer than glitter.

I love the Green Tara ribbon that I used on this layout.
It has string woven through it that you pull and tie
and you get left with this beautiful little cluster.
I added the length of lace after I coloured it with inks.

Love the doilies and of course flowers.
Bigger snowflakes with heart shapes of pearls in the middle.
Theres that very pretty ribbon again.

Some of the items used
Gesso and Impasto
Silks
2Crafty Chippies
Green Tara Ribbon
Kaszazz pearls
Prima flowers
Papers; bazzill
Kaisercraft Base coat- Shabby Chic
Lindy Stamp Gang sprays
Gelatoes

"This is Me"

Hi everyone and welcome to another case file at Color, Stories and Inspiration

CSI is 3 years old this month and all the case files for January have a definite " birthday" feel about them.
There are some exciting changes at CSI this month. There is no longer a Case File to solve on the third Friday of the month. We have also introduced a " Major" Case File which is the first one of the month and that one will go for the whole month. This gives you heaps of time to get your mojo going and join in on the fun. So if you have lots of time or like most of us limited time CSI  caters for everyone.
We have some wonderful sponsors this month and they are,

Case File 152 has a great birthday feel to the scene and this is my take on the case.
This is a photo of myself when I was about 5-6. This is me on my brand new shiny red scooter that I got for my birthday. I love my scooter and used to ride it everywhere. I can't believe how new the street looked in the background. Its was a new housing development in Victoria called Doveton and its where I spent the first 12 years of my younger days. I believe that the are has changed alot since I moved away and I no longer have my shiny red scooter.

Case File 152 at CSI birthday gift everywhere.

Now for the Case File elements;
The Scheme; all five colours clearly present and accounted for.
The Evidence; I used mesh, polka dots, ribbon/bow, paint, watercolor background.
The Testimony; I wrote about a favourite gift that I received and tied some ribbon around it. Its located on the bottom right corner, the polka dot paper roll.
My Story goes;
This is me Carol on my 5-6th birthday. I really can't remember.
I got a brand new red shiny scooter.
I rode my scooter everywhere and was the envy of my friends.
Its funny how scooter have come back into fashion
and all the kids are riding them again.
My scooter had pneumatic tyres (no tube)
It had red solid disc wheels.
The brake also doubled as the stand.
I had a silver bell on the handle bars.
My Dad bought me plastic streamers so that
I could hang them from the handle grips.
They would fly in the wind especially because I
rode my scooter so fast.
NOW FOR THE CLOSE UPS AND PAGE DETAILS.........
Love the Green Tara ribbon on this page and the little
ladybugs peeking out from the flowers.

Lots of Impasto, gesso, inks, paints and stamping in the background.
My journalling is inside the polka dot roll.

2Crafty chippy circles on the background and then  I painted and
added some to the layout once it was finished.

I love to add surgical gauze to my layouts, I think it adds
a real softness to them.

Painted the title and then covered it in Glossy Accents to
give it a real shiny feel.

Jo Sonja paints
Prima color Blooms
Lindy Stamp Gang Inks
2Crafty Chipboard
Green Tara ribbons

" Always Treasure Life "

Hi everyone.
I'm so excited and proud to be able to share this very special
layout that I created for my Mum.
Scrap Around The World has the most beautiful mood board this month and when I saw it I just knew I had to do a layout.

This board had me from the stunning soft pink roses, the shabby chic feel and I might add the whole vintage feel of the mood board. The colours are my all time favourites and I used the the clock to represent the travel of time, how quick it goes by and how precious our life is.
My gorgeous mum who was approx 20 years old when this photo was taken, is now in her late 80s and still going strong. She is still as gorgeous to me as she was in this photo.

Lots of my most favourite things ....
flowers, lace, lots of goodies and of course all things girly

Clear Gesso on the background and just a little bit of stencilling
I used a prima frame and added some colours to
replicate the colours on the clock real gave it a worn look,

Love the large lace and added some Kaisercrafts collectables.
The words were on a strip on the end of the
wood grain Kaisercraft (Blue Bay )paper that I used
.
I've inked and painted the 2Crafty chippies. I used some Silks on
the flourish chippies as they gave a real soft colour.
Love my new little bow die
(thanks Julianne who bought it for me for Christmas)
The chippy locks and keys were painted the same as the clock frame.
I love that it finished up looking very vintage. Green Tara ribbon
to hold them all in place. (love this ribbon )

Some of the items I used.....
Clear Gesso
Impasto
Papers: Plain Bazzill
Kaisercraft Blue Bay Collection
2Crafty Chipboard
Green Tara Ribbon and flowers
Prima flowers
Petaloo Flowers
Kaisercraft Collectables
Silks
Prima Color Bloom sprays

My New Inking Booth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
I just wanted to share my newest acquisition to my scraproom...
my
" INKING BOOTH "
This all started with a thought and a drawing that was strategically placed in my gorgeous hubbys lap.
No more over sprays on my white desk.
Thought I would share it with you all while it is all nice, new and very clean.

The easel allows for me to put pages on and I also included a chain with a bulldog clip from the
pole across the top so I could hang papers to spray or
hang once inked or painted. Great for the drippy look.

I placed baskets on the sides so I could store all my sprays there for easy access.
I have rings with all my stencils hanging from the pole.
A light to see better and its positions so it doesn't throw shadows.
The shelf underneath will eventually have a bin, gloves, sponges, brushes and paper towel and the every faithful baby wipes.

I hope you enjoyed a peek in my scrap room.
I will have to clean it up and add a few more photos

have a great day

" Please no Photos "

HAPPY NEW YEAR  !!!

Welcome everyone and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families and I wish you all safe and healthy New Year

This is the first case file for CSI for 2015  and its a beauty.
You will notice that there have been a few changes at CSI late last year and I for one think that the changes are fantastic.
We don't have a challenge each Friday which gives you a little more time to complete the case files.
We now have one of the case files that runs for the whole month, which is brilliant. That case file is the first one of the month.
So now you can either do all  the case files  or if its easier for you,  do one once a month but no matter what you decide you can join in.
So come on and have a go, its so much fun at CSI, click on the link, you have nothing to lose...

Now for Case File no 151 and yes this is the one that goes for the whole month of January.

This Christmas I decided to have a " photo booth". I collected a heap of Christmas dressups and some not so festive. I hunted around for a couple of frames and DH painted them for me. We set up the camera on the tripod and put up the backdrop and let everyone take as many photos of themselves. I now have some fantastic photos to scrap and not one argument over having a photo taken. We will definitely be doing this again next year.
This is my very patient hubby (the scrap widower) with our little dog"Charli Girl" Charli Girl was not impressed with having to wear reindeer ears.

Love the "Grumpy Cat" Scene for this case file and I think my hubby's photo sorta depicts it perfectly.
Emma Stafrace did a great job on the sketch for this case too.
www.theniftypixel.com.au
Now for the case file elements;
The Scheme; All colours here.. bright sea-foam green, carnation pink, bright white, cream and grayish green.
The Evidence; I used frames, pleating, triangles (mesh), cat/other animal, loops(testimony) something fuzzy and texture paste.
The Testimony I hand wrote my testimony on my page and used the Inspiration Words. You can see the testimony looped around a white stamp on the background.
There are 4 which say;
1. Christmas Photo Booth 2014 Pat and Charli Girl
2.Pat's not really grumpy, he loves to dress up.
3. Pat was reluctant to dress up but loves the little hat
4. Pat's not grumpy, that's his happy face

NOW FOR SOME CLOSE UPS AND DETAILS

I covered the paper with clear Gesso. I love the black stamping
and inked all the chippies in black Memento ink.
The ring around Charli Girl is the left over from a 2Crafty set.

Fussy cut out some flowers which gives a nice layer.
You can see some plasterers mesh on the background.

Finally I was able to use my Tim Holtz die to cut out the rosettes

I tore the strips out down the page and then placed the paper on a
painted piece of corrugated board. Love the effect on this one.

Some of the items used
Gesso
Impasto
inks
2Crafty chipboard
Prima flowers
Petaloo flowers
Kaisercraft cutouts
Studio Calico wooden camera
plasterers mesh
Kaiser stamps
