" Sweet Story "

CSI: Color, Stories and Inspiration
Case File 156
Hi everyone and thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a look at my latest creation.
This time I found this photo of one very special family in my life.
In this photo is my oldest and closest friend "Wendy"
with her grown up boys " Jared & Jess " and her gorgeous Mum " Thelma ".
Wendy and I became friends over 30 years ago in the small country town of Poowong, Victoria.
Even though we don't live close anymore, as I live about 1200 ks away, we still are close friends. I sometimes miss that she isn't just up the road but keep in contact and definitely don't see her often enough.
I have been blessed to have been her friend long enough to see her boys grow into the wonderful men that they have become.
Thank-you for being my friend this one is for you. xoxox
Now for the case file details:
The Scheme- bright coral, yellow green, warm gray, white and tan. All can be seen
The Evidence - I used leaves, flowers, rub-ons, stamps, postage stamps, mixed media background, cursive font,
triangles.
The Testimony- I used " one little word" and wrote on the back of the page.
The word I chose was THANKFUL.
It reads;
I am thankful to have met you,
I am thankful that we have shared some very special times together
I am thankful that I was with you when you were in labor with Jess
I am thankful that you were by my side when I gave birth to my youngest son
I am thankful that we have always been able to be a support for each other in the bad times
I am thankful that you have never judged me
I am thankful that you have always been honest with me
I am thankful that no matter how much distance is between us we are still friends
I am thankful that when we do get together it seems like we only saw each other yesterday
I am thankful that you are my friend
NOW FOR SOME CLOSE UPS AND DETAILS

I lightly coated the background with clear gesso so I didn't lose any of the pattern.
Then some texture paste and a triangle stencil
I made on my new toy my Brother Scan and Cut.

All the chippies have been inked in black.
I mixed the geometrics with the flowers and love the effect.

Didn't have an ink in the colour I wanted for the bud chippies so I mixed paints until I was happy with the colour.
Highlighted some of the triangles in the background with
a paint brush and some distress ink.
Distressed all the edges of the papers and inked them.

This is the case file where I got my inspiration.

I am so very happy to share this layout with you all.   I don't use the colour blue very often I am more than happy with how this layout turned out. These are some photos of my baby girl with her baby girls.
I think thats a pretty good circle of life.

Summer Memories
You and Me
I love this
Its a flip flop kind of day
Sun, surf and sand

NOW FOR THE CLOSE UP AND DETAILS

Love the bubble stencil I used on this one,
looks like its under the sea.
Used Color Bloom Glistening waves for colour.
Really loving the stickers from Kaisercraft
that accompany this
beautiful beachy paper.

The chippies have been inked and painted some
glue to adhere the micro beads.
I love to add bits of gauze into my backgrounds
and yes the fish is upside down : )

Because I had to follow the sketch for this one
I did a layer of corrugated paper across the
 bottom and added
Gesso to give it a washed out look.

" Sweet Smile " such a great title for this special page

Added some shells that I had collected from our local beach.
I twirled some twine around
a pen, soaked it with water, let it dry
and came up with these little twirly bits to
poke out of my flower cluster.

This is the case file, what a ripper.
Big shout out to Em Stafrace for the great sketch

" Wade & Kels "

Hi everyone and thanks for  stopping by.
This is my latest DT layout for case file 154 at CSI; Color Stories and Inspiration.

This is a great photo of my youngest Wade and his girlfriend Kelsey. Kelsey gave him a hot air balloon ride over the beautiful Hunter Valley NSW,for his 21st birthday. This photo was taken whilst they were in the basket waiting to take off.

I was a bit shaky with the colours for this case file but am very happy with the way it all turned out. I have to admit that I glued all the alphabets onto the background then when I stood back I decided that I could incorporate their names into the background, so I took them all off and started again. Don't you just love this technique, you could use anything on the background, alpha's, bits and pieces of chippies, thickers, numbers the list is endless and such a great way of using up all those leftovers.

Case File Elements:
The Scheme (colours)- cherry red, kraft, bright white, black and olive green. All accounted for.
The Evidence - I used the following- polka dots, stripes, use the alphabet as a design feature, book pages, map print, metal, twine.
The Testimony - I documented about the home to the right of the photo. It reads- I am home whenever Im with you. I also used different fonts/ letters in their names.
On the back I wrote- Kelsey gave Wade the fantastic opportunity to go for a  ride in a hot  air balloon for his 21st birthday. The first day they booked was cancelled due to bad weather. The second booking was fine and they drifted off into the heavens to explore all of the Hunter Valley from the heights and in total silence. The possibilities that this type of ride offers are endless and its all dependent on the weather and the winds. I am so proud of these two young people because they have so much wisdom for two so young and do not hesitate to take every opportunity to go explore a new adventure or a new place together.

Now for the closeups and details

I love the twine as a bow in this cluster,
so easy and so effective.
I painted on some glue on my chippie pieces
and added some micro beads.

Had some of this old Kaszazz world map left over and it is just perfect for this case file.
Added the twine around for a bit more texture.
Love the cute saying I made up.

This is case file 154, and we are lucky enough to have some great Sponsors this month so come join in the fun.

have a great weekend
